financial institutions and capital markets
The banking sector is the main actor in financial intermediation in Albania with more than 90 percent of the Albanian bank assets owned by foreign banks. On the other hand, the capital market is underdeveloped. Private pension funds occupy an insignificant position in the institutional investor arena, the corporate bond market remains undeveloped, and there are a limited number of investment funds. Still, as the Albanian parliament has passed new laws aimed at fostering the development of the market and opening opportunities for investors, Frost & Fire Consulting has all the required expertise to assist in this field.
Members of our team have worked for many years in the world’s most developed capital markets with a broad array of financial institutions including commercial banks, investment banks, broker-dealers, private equity funds, hedge funds, asset managers, and investment advisors such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, Citibank, Merrill Lynch, Apollo, Ripplewood, and Banco Santander. We draw from our experience representing these financial institutions in connection with significant corporate transactions (including mergers, divestitures, spin-offs, and capital market activities, such as IPOs, high yield, investment grade and convertible bond offerings, tender offers or shelf takedowns, and other debt and equity capital-raising activities) and put it to use in the regional context. We also have extended experience in dealing with supranational international financial institutions such as World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Monetary Fund, and European Investment Bank, their operations, safeguards, and independent recourse mechanisms.
