The insurance market in Albania started to operate in the beginning of the 90s with the improvement of the legal environment and the investment of foreign insurance companies in the market. Currently, there are several licensed insurance companies as well as insurance brokerage firms operating in Albania. Regulated by its regulatory body—the Financial Supervision Authority—the insurance sector has undergone continuous developments in the legislative framework designed to align the sector with EU directives in this field.
